In a display of career aspirations and networking prowess, graduating students and alumni of Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) congregated at the Job Fair 2024, simultaneously held across all campuses, last 10 May 2024.
Organized by OLFU’s Central Placement Office (CPO), the annual event provided a platform for jobseekers to explore diverse employment opportunities and engage with esteemed and competitive employers.
For this year, the fair witnessed an impressive turnout of passionate participants, eager to embark on their professional journeys.
At the OLFU Valenzuela campus, the Assembly Hall of the RISE Tower buzzed with activity as representatives from at least 35 employers spanning various industries interacted with at least 500 promising applicants throughout the morning and afternoon sessions.
Notably, the presence of satellite outlets from key governmental institutions such as the Social Security System (SSS) and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) added significant value to the fair. The agencies aided incoming members of the workforce by facilitating essential state documentation and linking services.
Reflecting on the evolving landscape of post-pandemic job fairs, Aira Monique Dela Cruz, Head of the CPO, emphasized the substantial increase in alumni participation witnessed in recent years. Dela Cruz also underscored the office’s ongoing efforts to bolster OLFU’s network of industry partners, thereby ensuring enhanced career prospects for Fatimanians.
Diverse sectors including healthcare, banking, audit, hospitality, technology, management, and government services were represented during the fair, underscoring its comprehensive nature and relevance to the diverse career aspirations of Fatimanians.
Meanwhile, Charisse Sevillano and Maria Fatima Raci, representing Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) and Fatima University Medical Center (FUMC), respectively, shed light on why Fatimanians gravitate towards their Alma Mater for employment opportunities.
Sevillano highlighted the enduring cultural values instilled by OLFU, which resonate strongly with graduates, while Raci emphasized the practical benefits available to healthcare professionals seeking to commence their careers at FUMC.
The Job Fair, a cornerstone event in OLFU’s calendar, has been a fixture for over two decades. Its success is attributed to the collaborative efforts of the CPO, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), underscoring a collective commitment to fostering career growth and opportunities for the OLFU community.
As Fatimanians embark on their professional quest, the Job Fair 2024 stands as a testament to OLFU’s unwavering dedication to nurturing talent and facilitating meaningful connections in the dynamic landscape of employment. –Raymond Lumagsao
