Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Overview
As the pioneering program of the University, the School of Nursing opened in 1973 with a modest enrollment of 180 students. It initialized the vision of a vast medical complex that would be a fertile training ground for healthcare providers.
In 1976, that dream began to bear fruit when the first batch of Nursing graduates demonstrated an unprecedented 100% passing rate in the board examinations. Since then, the College of Nursing has been continuously enhancing its curricular offering, innovating its processes and upgrading its facilities to align with the global standards set for Nursing.
At OLFU, the faculty do not simply teach– rather and more importantly, teachers show students the “how to’s”. Nursing faculty do not give answers to all the questions– instead, the teachers huddle with the class to share and analyze ideas to arrive at the solutions. Teaching staff do not just lecture to students on how to become a nurse-– instead, teachers develop and invest their time and expertise to help learners become the best version of themselves; so, as Fatima touches their lives, students also touch the lives of others and heal one life at a time.
Another point of pride of the College of Nursing and the College of Medicine is the Clinical Simulation Center at the OLFU Research, Innovation, Science, and Enterprise (RISE) Tower. It is a highly advanced training laboratory that houses top-of-the-line manikins, stations, and equipment— all these at school fee rates that remain to be one of the most reasonable in the Philippines.
Today, students of the College of Nursing reap the full benefits from OLFU’s world-class learning platforms and resources which are paired with state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories—all delivered by a competent teaching faculty through a masterful mix of learning modalities: online, distance or, when health conditions permit, face-to-face learning.
It is also noteworthy that OLFU is one among a few select schools to be granted the Certificate of Authority by the CHEd, allowing it to conduct limited face-to-face classes in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic; a testament to the University’s established and effective community safety protocols.
