Overview

The College of Maritime Education’s degree programs are duly recognized by CHED and MARINA, equip future deck and engine officers with knowledge and training needed in the marine industry.

The College of Maritime Education’s facilities and equipment are of international standards, some of which are: a RADAR/ARPA (marine radar with automatic radar plotting aid), an ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) room, GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) simulators, a mock bridge with complete seamanship tools and paraphernalia, boiler systems, marine machineries, and two (2) engine room simulators.

With the aid of up-to-date facilities combined with an excellent pool of teaching staff, graduates receive a well-rounded and quality education that gives them robust employment opportunities aboard international vessels such as officers-in-charge of navigational watch and engineering watch.

Today, students of the College of Maritime Education reap the full benefits from OLFU’s world-class learning platforms and resources which are paired with state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories—all delivered by a competent teaching faculty through a masterful mix of learning modalities: online, distance or, when health conditions permit, face-to-face learning.

It is also noteworthy that OLFU is one among a few select schools to be granted the Certificate of Authority by the CHEd, allowing it to conduct limited face-to-face classes in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic;  a testament to the University’s established and effective community safety protocols.
