The College of Hospitality and Institutional Management of Our Lady of Fatima continues its mission of providing students a well-versed educational experience as it took its students to yet another out-of-school learning affair. CHIM held an International Research Conference last March 5-9, 2019 at Kaohsiung City, Taiwan.

With the theme “Valuing Research Collaborations in Knowledge-Based Economy”, students immersed themselves in and gained knowledge on the industries of Business, Hospitality, Tourism, and Culinary Management— through a series of research presentations and talks from esteemed plenary speakers working here and abroad.

Aside from the informative symposiums, the students had a chance to acquaint themselves with the culture of Taiwan as they conducted a university visit at the I-Shou International School where they received a warm welcome from the university administrators. The visit also served as a bridge to strengthen academic affiliations and partnerships with international universities.

Being in a foreign country, the students didn’t miss the chance to enjoy and explore the best tourist destinations of the city. They also witnessed various cultural dance presentations from the Zuyun Culture Music and Dance Company during their Socialization Night at the Golden Dragon Hall of Kaohsiung Hanlai Hotel.

Gillian Marie Santos, a student representative from the OLFU CHIM Antipolo Campus expressed her thoughts about the conference which stated:

“We didn’t just learn about the history of Taiwan but we also learned from the speakers and presenters from IRESCON 2019— which is one of the most advantageous parts of this trip. This trip gave us not only learnings and knowledge from the history of Taiwan and from the conference, but it gave us enjoyment and created a memorable trip for everyone.” she said.
