The College of Medicine’s Department of Surgery orchestrated a groundbreaking faculty development program entitled “Setting Minimum Passing Level (MPL)” on 21 April 2024 at OLFU RISE Tower.

Driven by the impetus of elevating academic standards across all departments, the event was organized by the organizing committee headed by Dr. Wallace Medina alongside Dean Arnel Manalili, Dr. Lean Vila, and Dr. Chona Araga. The program was hosted by Dr. Jennifer Christy Broqueza.

Under the visionary leadership of the university president, Dr. Caroline Marian Enriquez, the activity delved into the intricacies of determining MPL, navigating through methodologies, best practices, and theoretical frameworks. The event was honored by the presence of Dr. Maria Rosario Cabansag, a renowned expert in the field, who shared her invaluable expertise and insights.

Faculty members from diverse disciplines eagerly converged to participate in this enlightening endeavor, recognizing the importance of maintaining rigor and consistency in academic assessments. The program fostered an environment of collaborative learning, encouraging lively discussions and the exchange of ideas among the faculty members.

As the day unfolded, participants gained invaluable insights into aligning assessments with learning outcomes, ensuring fairness and transparency in grading practices, and upholding the integrity of academic standards.
