To say the very least, 2022 has been a banner year for Alyssa Kylie Mallari, a Grade 12 student from the Laguna Campus of Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU). After all, she did manage to snag seven medals in Muay Thai.
Thus far, Mallari’s most admirable performance, yet, was seen in the IFMA Youth World Championships 2022. IFMA or the International Federation of Muaythai Associations hosted the event at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Center in Selangor, Malaysia from August 11 to 21, 2022. Here, Mallari bagged a gold in the Combat event, another gold in the Waikru event, and a silver in the Mai Muay event.
Before that, Mallari already earned three gold medals. First, she won two Gold Medals in the Combat and Waikru events in the 2022 Muaythai National Championships held at the Subic Freeport Zone in Zambales last November 29 to December 03, 2022. And, prior to that, she won a Gold for Combat in the 2022 Muaythai Regional Championships staged in the same competition venue last July 13 to 17, 2022.
Further, Mallari, the martial artist and Senior High School student from OLFU Laguna, grabbed another gold in Combat at the All Women’s Martial Arts Festival 2022 last November 16, 2022 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Malate, Manila.
Muay Thai or Muaythai is the national sport of Thailand and is also known as Thai Boxing. A combat sport originating from the Sukhothai Kingdom in the 13th century, Muay Thai translates to the “art of eight limbs” because a competitor uses eight channels to make contact and those would be his or her two hands, two elbows, two knees, and two feet.
OLFU congratulates Alyssa Kylie Mallari of OLFU Laguna for her amazing skills!
