Last 10 May 2019, 354 college students from the Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) Valenzuela Campus received their Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES), a provision of Republic Act 10931, also known as the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA).

Held at the Allied Medical Sciences Auditorium, the awarding ceremony was graced by Dr. Virginia Akiate, Director IV of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office – National Capital Region, and officials of the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education. Also present were the University officials, Don August O. Santos, Executive Vice President; Vincent Kenneth S. Mercado, Head of Student Financial Services; Jomar T. Parel, Head of the Valenzuela Campus Admissions Office; College Deans, Program Heads, and Admissions Staff.
For School Year 2018 to 2019, the Valenzuela Campus distributed P21 million worth of TES grants funded by the government. Having received the financial aid for the current year, the grantees may once again receive the subsidy in the succeeding years up to their graduation, provided that they meet the retention requirements set by the University.

As stated in the UAQTEA, the Tertiary Education Subsidy aims to provide college students from underprivileged families access to quality education. The financial aid is intended to cover the recipients’ school fees and student living expenses.

OLFU is one of the select partner institutions of the Commission on Higher Education Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) in implementing the government initiative.
