On 30 September 2018, members of the Shotokan Karate-do Club (SKC) of Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) bagged several awards in the 1st Tarlac Invitational Open Karate-do Championship held at CityMall, San Rafael, Tarlac City.

Organized by the Progressive Arts and Sports Karate-do (PASKA), OLFU-SKC members competed in the Kata and Kumite events of the tournament, and took home a total of 10 medals— six golds, two silvers and two bronzes.

The winning Fatimanians were as follows: Mae Ladylene Vedeja – GOLD (16-17 years old Female Novice Kata); Hannah Faye Bautista – GOLD (16-17 years Old Female Kumite -55kg); Arah Mae Domondon – GOLD (18 years old and above Women’s Novice Kata); April Rose Alcoba – GOLD (18 years old and above Women’s Kumite +60kg); Jessa Mae Bucabal – GOLD (18 years old and above Women’s Kumite +60kg); Shawn Pasco – GOLD (18 years old and above Men’s Kumite +60kg); Edna Roldan – SILVER (18 years old and above Women’s Novice Kata); Kenn Santiago – SILVER (16-17 years old Men’s Kumite -55kg); Federick Peloton – BRONZE (16-17 years old Men’s Kumite -55kg), and Dweeziel Magdaong – BRONZE (18 years old and above Men’s Open Belt Kumite +60kg). Adviser Alberto M. Alvarez and Coach Nicole Ann Hiponia lent their presence and full support during the event.
