The International Trailblazer in Inclusion Award by Bett Asia once again found its way to Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) after naming Research Development and Innovation Center Director Michael Joseph Diño as this year’s recipient, succeeding OLFU President Dr. Caroline Marian Enriquez in 2022.

On 4 October 2023 at the Athenee Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, the new set of Bett Asia awardees was revealed where Dr. Enriquez personally attended the formal conferment on behalf of Dr. Diño, raising the banner of OLFU.

As a victor of educational technology in an impressive catalogue of works as a researcher, innovator, and an influential member of the academe, Bett Asia could not resist the unstoppable arsenal of Diño.

The same name is heavily credited for the strong and ever-growing foundation of OLFU in research resulting in tangible executions of visions to best practices, ultimately evident with the ingenious delivery of the Multiple Applications for Reality-Virtuality Experience Laboratory (MARVEL), Smart Classroom for Authentic Learning Experience (SCALE), and the Care and Restoration of Infants through Breastfeeding and Breastmilk Banking (CRIB3) initiative under his directorship.

In the confident belief that nursing education will morph into even a more formidable force when supplemented with technology and research, the unparalleled Diño has already amassed 94 high-impact publications in educational technology, informatics, and leadership, on top of his 291 citations across interrelated areas and disciplines. More than 50 of these studies were translated into patents, technologies, standards, and policies to push for inclusive education in the Philippines, Asia Pacific, and beyond.

Easily, Bett Asia realizes the boundless depot of Diño whose educational excellence ticks every box it requires to hail him as a trendsetter and an innovator in educational technology.

In the said category, Diño bested Nguyen Dung from the British University Vietnam and Apollo Vietnam, and Lee Saw Im from SMK Seri Bintang Utara hailing from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It can be recalled that in 2022, Bett Asia likewise hailed OLFU President Enriquez as their International Trailblazer in Inclusion Awardee. This year, the same leader emerged as their finalist for the Pioneer Award for demonstrating outside-the-box thinking and best practices in leading the academic brand of OLFU.

Consequently, Bett Asia also named Our Lady of Fatima University as a finalist for this year’s Sustainability Initiative Award, recognizing the social services and programs of the institution to support various causes including healthcare protection, health training support involving healthcare professionals, and accessible quality education, especially dedicated in the community level. While every crucial member of OLFU continues to strive to position the institution in the hallmark of academic finesse, the brand proudly welcomes these acknowledgements of its key propellers to persistently deliver quality education, and as a humble inspiration that assures OLFU’s clear route to improving man as a man. – Raymond Lumagsao
