The retail industry is not all about selling; it’s also about giving joy. On 10 October 2022, CMG Retail, Inc. proved just that when key representatives visited Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) to formally meet and orient their OLFU scholars from the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA).
Held at the San Lorenzo Hall of OLFU Valenzuela, the joyful scholarship kick-off also coincided with the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between OLFU and CMG in which one of the stipulations cover the said scholarship. An initiative of OLFU CBA’s Synergy Institute-Supervised Work Experience Program (SWEP), the MOA is a renewal with CMG— a corporation recognized as one of OLFU CBA’s most active and long-time industry partners. A solid ally, CMG has participated in SWEP projects like the General Assemblies, Recruitment Interview Simulation (RIS), Job Fairs, Accreditation, and more. Being the active partner that they are, CMG has been a “darling” industry linkage of OLFU as seen in recognitions they have received from the University such as the 1st Pyxidia Awards, the Munifiscent Award, the Top 5 Students’ Choice Award, and the Overall Students’ Choice Award.
In all, 24 OLFU Scholars were selected by CMG Retail: 8 students from the Valenzuela Campus, 7 from Quezon City, 7 from Antipolo, and 2 from Pampanga. As CMG’s scholarship recipients, the 24 students will be taking their on-the-job training (OJT) with CMG Retail and deployed to targeted CLN branches.
The generous scholarship includes tuition fees which are directly paid by CMG to OLFU, a training stipend, free uniforms, group accident insurance, retail business exposure, and practical training. As non-tangibles, CMG also infuses values formation and the development of discipline which should also further aid the scholars in maintaining good academic and training performance standards.
In return, the student-trainees in CMG must adhere to the company’s Code of Conduct; act and behave accordingly aligned to the CLN image; maintain an academic standing of at least 75% general weighted average and a good disciplinary record, and maintain a good performance rating from the CLN store where the trainee is assigned.
Present from CMG Retail, Inc. during the MOA Signing and Scholars’ Orientation were: Zenaida Camahalan, HR Manager; Joanne Angeles, Assistant HR Manager; Shayne de Mesa, HR Officer; Leah Sison, Payroll, and Rose Ambagan, Area Sales Manager and Batch 2012 Alumna of OLFU CBA Quezon City Campus.
From OLFU’s end, the following graced the occasion: Dr. Ignacio Cordova, Jr., CBA Dean; the CBA Program Heads, the SWEP Coordinators, the Scholars, and their Parents/Guardians.
