Graduation and moving-up ceremonies are momentous occasions for every student. After all, these are celebrations of all the efforts they gave in school – the moment has come for them to reap the fruits of their hard labor. However, this year, in light of the recent health situation and the implementation of quarantines across the country, public gatherings have been temporarily put to a halt.

Nonetheless, the circumstances did not hinder the heartened students of the Our Lady of Fatima University Basic Education Department (OLFU BED). With the theme, “Sulong EduKalidad: Championing the Nation’s Future, the Department hosted Graduation and Moving-Up Ceremonies via Zoom on August 11 and 12, 2020 for the Valenzuela and Quezon City campuses respectively.

BED pupils, together with their dear parents and educators, came together in the online sphere and applauded from the safety of their homes. While held on an entirely different platform, the ceremonies were still successfully carried out. All awardees and completers were duly recognized, and through creative videos, the classes proudly sang along to their batch songs. The students were also given a chance to look back at their happy memories as they step forward to a whole new chapter in their lives.

To complete the festivities, the students also received words of encouragement from administrators Rafael Vicente Enriquez and Dr. Ramonita Salazar, and BED principals, Barry Dio and Dhonny Bacuyag.

In one of his speeches, Administrator Enriquez said that this was a “very unique school year,” but at the same time, the University is prepared for the challenges that lie ahead. For Principal Dio, the graduating class is unique as they culminated the school year differently; they stand out through these tough experiences, which builds in them strength and endurance for whatever life may bring.
