Arbeen Thruelen, a Grade 6 student of Our Lady of Fatima University- Quezon City Campus (OLFU QC) recently was declared as the country’s Fastest Swimmer in the 13 to 14 year old age group. Such was the declaration by the Philippine Sports Commission.
Already an owner of what seems to be a treasure chest of medals by now, Arbeen has, once again, demonstrated his dominance in swimming in year 2018 with a new set of wins.
Earlier in February 2018 at the Marikina Sports Complex, Arbeen was named as the Most Bemedalled Male Athlete in the elementary level category during the 2018 Palarong Pambansa National Qualifying Tournament. The swimmer from OLFU and the Philippine Swimming League collected seven gold medals thereby raising him up to 1st Place in the boys’ division. Arbeen reigned in the following events: 100-meter butterfly, 100-meter freestyle, 50-meter butterfly, 50-meter backstroke, and 50-meter freestyle. He was also a member of two teams which won two golds.
Then, in the Palarong Pambansa held last April 16 to 24, 2018 in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Arbeen took home five gold medals and one silver. He also holds the national record for the 100-meter butterfly.
And, on July 6 to 8, 2018 at Trace College in Los Banos, Laguna, Arbeen set a new Philippine record in the 50-meter butterfly event. He also bagged a bronze in this Southeast Asian Age Group competition for the 100-meter butterfly.
With these accomplishments, sights are now set on Arbeen Thruelen as he represents the Philippines in the Southeast Asian Games next year.
Truly, OLFU’s very own Arbeen continues to bedazzle with his champion strokes in the water. Go, Arbeen Thruelen, and take on the world!
