OLFU Maritime Education, Christmas

Part of the celebration of the College of Maritime Education’s (CME) Maritime Week this year, students of the College exhibited their creative side resulting in a total of 25 entries during the parol-making contest which concluded on 18 October 2023.

The materials used for the parol were mostly upcycled to visibly celebrate the Christmas season at OLFU. Supplying naval themes in the execution that abides to the theme “Marinong Parol Para sa Kalikasan,” the overall artistry was an indirect call to promote green shipping and an environment-friendly naval industry.

And, as CME’s signature of goodwill, the students’ thoughtfully- and creatively-constructed lanterns were gifted to the Valenzuela Campus for distribution to its series of buildings across the MacArthur Highway — the College’s unique way of spreading Christmas cheer with the students, faculty, and employees of the Valenzuela Campus.

The turnover of the parols was spearheaded by CME’s Dean Dr. Francis Jay Dela, and which was then graciously received by OLFU Valenzuela Campus Administrator Ernesto Leuterio Jr. at the RISE Tower Grounds.

Under the instruction of 2/M Norven Rosal and Capt. Marlon Pascual, the students in full naval suits gamely danced and participated in fun video clips and a TikTok challenge, creating an atmosphere of a fun and light Wednesday afternoon. – Raymond Lumagsao
