Four cadets from the College of Maritime Education (CME) at Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) have secured their spots for a panel interview with Anglo-Eastern Crew Management. The achievement follows their compelling performance in the qualifying exam held on 24 April 2024.
The qualifying exam, conducted by the industry partner Anglo-Eastern, aimed to identify promising and knowledgeable candidates eligible for the Cadetship Program. Out of 40 OLFU-CME cadets who participated, four stood out as exceptional prospects.
OLFU’s alliance with Anglo-Eastern is undertaken through the former’s Onboard Training Supervisor, 2/E Mark Antony Ramos, and College Dean, Dr. Francis Jay de la Cruz.
Capt. Michael Miguel, Anglo-Eastern Marine HR Manager, along with Aljon Van Dale Garcia, Marine Personnel Officer, facilitated the two-hour electronic exam. Their presence underscored the significance of this opportunity for the aspiring cadets.
Engr. Reynaldo Osma Jr., Assistant OBT Supervisor, with the presence of Capt. Marlon Pascual, Program Head of the Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT), and Norven Rosal, a faculty member at OLFU-CME, warmly welcomed the Anglo-Eastern representatives.
The standout cadets include Nestor Rey Guerrero and Neman Vidal Abayan from the BSMT program, as well as Marielle Anne Reyes and Anjhelo Sevalla from the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE) program.
In an exclusive interview, Capt. Miguel revealed that successful examinees would face a panel representing Anglo-Eastern, including the company’s President, four chief engineers, and himself. The rigorous selection process reflects Anglo-Eastern’s commitment to recruiting top-tier talent.
Capt. Miguel emphasized that OLFU-CME was handpicked by Anglo-Eastern’s top management due to its track record of producing high-quality cadets. The foundation of knowledge and skills possessed by these cadets positions them well for success in the Cadetship Program.
While specific details about the program’s coverage remain confidential, Capt. Miguel assured that joining Anglo-Eastern promises a rewarding career. He confidently stated, “Others may take more than ten years, but at Anglo, we achieve it within a decade. Our cadets will realize their ambitions and goals.”
