On 28 March 2023, the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), together with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), hosted the 2023 ITSO Presidents’ Summit, “ITSO: Hub and Generator of Future-Ready Innovations”.

Held at the Sequoia Hotel, Aseana City Business Park, Paranaque City, the affair sought to recognize ITSO member-institutions who made significant contributions towards deliverables relative to the 2022 ITSO 2.0 Clustering Program. Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) was one of the honorees and received a Silver Award. The accolade celebrates OLFU’s efforts in 2022 such as having staged more than 12 Intellectual Property Awareness seminars; having completed two patent search workshops and one patent drafting workshop, and having undertaken more than 24 patent search services— with all these spearheaded by Dr. Michael Joseph Dino, Director for OLFU Research Development and Innovation Center, who was present to graciously receive the award, as well. Concurrently, he is also the ITSO Manager for OLFU’s Innovation and Technology Support Office, a duly registered franchise of the IPOPHL, while OLFU-RDIC’s Joseph Vital serves as ITSO Assistant Manager.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s special message of praise and congratulations was shared during the event courtesy of Atty. Rowel Barba, IPOPHL Director General, who also delivered the keynote message for the day. Ralph Harvis Alindogan, IPOPHL Director, began the event with warm greetings while Michael Viccil Junsay elaborated on ITSO’s accomplishments and achievements in 2022. On the other hand, Atty. Cinderella Filipina Benitez, attended the event and represented the Commission on Higher Education where she serves as Executive Director IV.

During the Summit, ITSO formally inducted four new member-institutions: Davao Oriental State University, Davao Medical School Foundation, Inc., Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology, and Northwest Samar State University.

There were 77 ITSO institutional members in 2022, and OLFU counts itself as one of the 40 members who qualified for an award.
