The Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PCAP) has recognized Dr. Zorobabel S. Laureles, Dean of the College of Criminal Justice, Our Lady of Fatima University as one of the “Outstanding Criminologists of the Year” during its 24th National Convention held at the Family Country Homes and Convention Center, General Santos City on November 28-30, 2014.  The Plaque of Recognition was handed over to Dr. Laureles by no less than the PCAP President, Dr. Gerry J. Cano assisted by Atty. Erwin Bucio, Executive Secretary of the association.

Dean Laureles was cited for his significant contributions in the field of criminal justice in the Philippines as a police officer and as an educator. While with the PNP he established his well-deserved reputation for deep devotion to police work with clear passion and complete integrity, and at the age of 56 he retired compulsorily after serving the nation for 35 years and 27 days. In the academe, he was able to contribute in no small way to the development of criminology education by introducing innovations as well as by actual teaching and sharing his experiences and expertise. For his dedication and outstanding accomplishments in both professions, he received more than a hundred awards and recognitions from both local and nationalgovernment agencies and private organizations and institutions.

Dr. Laureles is a member of the NCR-Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT), a member of the Knights of Columbus and the President Emeritus of the Ex-Shields of the Province of Aurora, Inc. (ESPAI).

With Dean Laureles in the convention were: Dr. John B. David, Program Head of the Pampanga campus who presented a research paper which received a big applause from the participants; Dr. Edward V. Teredano, Review Director; and Ms. Lothes J. Samante, Program Head of the Valenzuela campus.
