Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) has officially launched the application process for 100 Medical Scholars for the upcoming School Year 2025-2026, providing both internal OLFU students and external applicants the opportunity to pursue a medical education through prestigious scholarship programs.
The scholarship grant reflects OLFU’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, student empowerment, and the cultivation of compassionate medical professionals to address the evolving healthcare needs of the country.
Leonora Juzgaya Olivares Scholarship
At the heart of the program is the Leonora Juzgaya Olivares Scholarship, named in honor of one of OLFU’s founders, Leonora Juzgaya Olivares. This distinguished scholarship provides comprehensive support to recipients, including full coverage of tuition and miscellaneous fees, free accommodation in the university dormitory or a monthly dorm allowance of P5,000, a monthly food stipend of P7,000, and free medical books. The scholarship is designed to honor academic achievement and recognize the potential of promising medical aspirants who meet the established qualifications.
Applicants must be natural-born Filipino citizens and must have an NMAT score of at least 40. To initiate the application process, candidates are required to complete the OLFU Application Form and pay a P1,000 application fee. After meeting all the requirements, applicants must proceed to take the In-Person Scholarship Exams (IPSE).
While graduating with or pursuing Latin honors is an advantage, it is not a strict prerequisite. Additional merit points will be awarded to graduates from recognized pre-medical programs and internal OLFU alumni, providing further support in the selection process.
Academic Scholarship Grant
In addition to the Leonora Juzgaya Olivares Scholarship, OLFU offers the Academic Scholarship Grant, which provides percentage-based tuition assistance to students based on their academic performance. This grant serves to recognize and reward consistent academic achievement and aims to inspire students to continue striving for excellence in their studies.
Scholarship application, examination process
The selection process for the scholarship program begins with the In-Person Scholarship Exams (IPSE), scheduled to start on 08 February 2025 at the OLFU Valenzuela City Campus. The application deadline for the first batch is 07 February 2025, with subsequent exams scheduled every second and fourth Saturday thereafter. To better serve students from across the country, additional exam locations will be made available.
For external applicants, exams will be held in North Luzon at OLFU Nueva Ecija and in South Luzon at OLFU Laguna. Future exam locations are planned for Cebu to serve examinees in the Visayas region and Davao for those in Mindanao. Internal OLFU students, on the other hand, will have their exams administered across multiple campuses, including Valenzuela City, Quezon City, Antipolo City, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, and Laguna.
A commitment to accessible medical education
OLFU’s scholarship programs are rooted in its longstanding academic philosophy “to improve man as man,” emphasizing the university’s dedication to nurturing competent and compassionate doctors. Through these scholarships and financial assistance, OLFU seeks to support aspiring medical professionals who will contribute meaningfully to addressing the country’s healthcare challenges and promoting equitable healthcare access for all.
Aspiring medical students, whether from OLFU or other institutions, are encouraged to seize this extraordinary opportunity to pursue their dreams of becoming healthcare leaders.
