Every company aspires to leave a legacy, and to create a difference that can make a positive and lasting impact in the lives of others. And being able to give the gift of education is probably one of the demonstrable actions of this pursuit. A promising alliance was recently formalized between Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) and the Hexagon Group of Companies’ Simplicio Gamboa Sr. Foundation, Inc. (SGS) when the latter officially and generously pledged to fund the education of 14 deserving students from OLFU. A memorandum of agreement was signed by both parties last 31 May 2019.

“We want to share our blessings.” Perseverando L. Cruz, one of the foundation’s Trustees said during the signing.

The possibility of the partnership started when SGS Foundation, Inc. reached out to OLFU and expressed its intention of extending scholarships to students who are eager to finish their studies but lack the financial resources to do so. Having the same vision of giving education to as many students as possible, OLFU welcomely agreed and promptly sent candidates for the foundation’s scholarship screening. In all, 14 qualified for the scholarship: five (5) from the Antipolo Campus, another five (5) from the Quezon City Campus, and four (4) from the Valenzuela Campus.

Present at the signing were:  President Edward Joseph M. Vitug and Trustee Perseverando L. Cruz, both of the SGS Foundation, Inc.; OLFU President, Dr. Caroline S. Enriquez; OLFU Campus Administrators— Dean Ramonita Salazaar (Quezon City) and Engr. Wilfredo Basilio (Antipolo). SGS Foundation Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Simplicio Gamboa Jr., also dropped by to have a conversation with the OLFU representatives.
