It was quite a productive couple of days for the College of Pharmacy (CoP) of Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) when they ventured to Malaysia from July 17-18, 2019, seeking to cement alliances with three schools there.

For a fact, UKM or the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia is already an existing partner, with said school based in Kuala Lumpur. Their Faculty of Pharmacy met with their OLFU counterparts to talk about future prospects such as a faculty exchange program; the free use of UKM facilities by OLFU’s Pharmacy students; research collaboration and advisory services; a mobility program, inbound to OLFU; and the internship of Malaysian students with OLFU’s partner manufacturing firms. Moreover, UKM verbalized plans of linking OLFU to the ASEAN PharmaNet, the largest organization of pharmacy schools in the ASEAN region.

On the other hand, OLFU’s College of Pharmacy is soon to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with two more educational institutions in Malaysia: UiTM or Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and IMU or the International Medical University.

The Faculty of Pharmacy of Selangor-based UiTM is proposing the free use of their facilities by OLFU Pharmacy students (BS and MS degrees); student mobility, and research collaboration.

Then, the School of Pharmacy of Kuala Lumpur-based IMU and OLFU are in talks for a robust student exchange program, as well.

OLFU contingents in creating these Malaysian linkages were from the College of Pharmacy, namely: Dean Olive de Vera, Program Head Anbel Bautista (Antipolo Campus), Program Head Juneve Tejada (Quezon City Campus), and faculty member Khent Alcantara (Antipolo Campus).
