Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) takes a step further in delivering quality, inclusive education as it recently sealed a partnership with Bukas, a financing company committed to “making education affordable” through easy student loans and installment.

By 15 January 2020, the Bukas Tuition Installment Plan will be made available to students of OLFU’s College programs, Graduate School, and College of Medicine. Initially, this service will be offered at the campuses of Valenzuela, Quezon City, and Antipolo.

The Plan allows eligible students to conveniently pay for a semester’s tuition in 12 monthly installments, with a low interest rate of 1.5% per month and a one-time 3% service charge. Subject to the approval and assessment of Bukas, qualified applicants may be granted a student loan of up to 100% tuition coverage.

Interested parties must apply directly to Bukas at https://apply.bukas.ph/olfu/ Inquiries, on the other hand, may be directed to the Bukas official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ph.bukas/).

The tie-up was formally affirmed through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony held on 09 January 2020 at the Research, Innovation, Science, and Enterprise (RISE) Tower, Valenzuela Campus. The key officials present were OLFU Executive Vice President, Don August Santos; Bukas Chief Executive Officer, Naga Tan; Bukas Chief of Staff, Cria Marie Pasquil; OLFU Campus Administrators–Dr. Ramonita Salazar and Engr. Wilfredo Basilio, and University Registrar, Elaine Pascual. Representatives from the Office of Marketing and Communications, Student Financial Services, Registrar’s Office, and Admissions Office were likewise in attendance.

At the event, Bukas Chief of Staff Cria Marie Pasquil shared the driving force behind the company. “The idea behind Bukas is that we want every Filipino to be able to afford quality education,” she said. According to her, in order to realize their vision, Bukas approached “top-tier” schools known for providing high-standard education.

OLFU EVP Don August Santos saw the partnership as a way of enabling and encouraging the students to achieve their goals through their education. “We see the difficulty of payment coming from the students, which is understandable,” he said. “Instead of them waiting for the money to come from their parents, for them to line up and send promissory notes to the Accounting Office, we took this opportunity to partner with Bukas PH who will provide student loans to them–reasonably affordable so they can avail of the loans and make the payments on time.”

The partnership with Bukas is just one of the University’s numerous endeavors in making quality Fatima education within reach. Santos added that the people behind OLFU are continuously working to enhance their scholarships. “We try to expand the reach of our scholarship programs in terms of the number of students that we want to take in as scholars. At the same time, the benefits that we give to these scholars, we’ll try to improve them as well,” he said.
