Our Lady of Fatima University, guided with the noble goal to bring forth quality education and industry-responsive instruction at the heart of its academic programs, continues to innovate learning by incorporating top-of-the line technologies and evidence-based teaching approaches. Just recently, the College of Medicine incorporated the use of Apple Technologies for its Laboratory Instruction for the Histology and Pathology courses. Beginning first semester of the academic year 2014-2015, laboratory instructions at the college will use and pilot Apple Inc.’s iTunes U and iBooks.

At one hand, iTunes U courses will providethe laboratory sessions with a completely customized learning experience for students by bringing together successful teaching materials all in one place with the iTunes U app that comes on every iOS device. On the other hand, iBooks will showcase audio-video clips and interactive applications that are necessary to better understand the concepts and principles of the courses. These technologies can be accessed in and out-campus. Apple Inc. has the reputation of transforming education through innovative technologies since 1984.

The constructive integration of Apple technologies in the college is under the supervision of Prof. Michael Joseph Dino, the Research Director of the university and a certified Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE), with Dr. LuzvimindaSurio, Dr. Fe Bartolome, Dr. Francisco Rabosa, Jr., Dr. ChonaAraga and Dr. AlbertGironella as team champions.

The administration and the Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Reynaldo A. Olazo, are confident that the use of modern technologies in teaching is crucial in developing globally competitive professionals and in compliance to the implementation of Outcomes-Based Education in the university. Our Lady of Fatima University will always be committed to search for educational trendsetters that will keep the students more engaged with learning and connected with the world.
