The College of Pharmacy of Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) established its presence in the 2nd International Conference on Pharmacy Education and Research Network of ASEAN (ASEAN PharmNET 2017) through delegates, Anbel Bautista and Khent Alcantara, Program Head of the Antipolo Campus and Faculty Member, respectively.
Staged last November 21 to 22, 2017 at the Grand Seasons Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, the global summit carried the theme, “Advancing Multi-Dimensional Roles of Pharmacy Education and Research”. While serving as a venue where participants from ASEAN Pharmacy schools could exchange knowledge and experiences in pharmacy education and research; the event also focused on current advances in pharmacy education and research impacting on all disciplines of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
OLFU alumna, Jorryza Mae Pellazar, presented her research during the scientific segment of the conference.
OLFU’s College of Pharmacy hopes to further solidify its presence in the international arena as it works on becoming a member of the ASEAN PharmNET in year 2018.
Optimizing the trip to Malaysia, the College of Pharmacy also visited a prospective partner, the University Kebangsaan Malaysia (The National University of Malaysia). Their Program Head of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Mohd Hanif Zulfakar, and Senior Lecturer Dr. Fazren Azmi met with the OLFU representatives to draft a formal agreement between the two universities. Student mobility, academic/ cultural exchange, and research and technological collaboration will be the cornerstones in this alliance.
