A handsome grey and white edifice is the newest addition to the Pampanga campus of the Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU). Named in honour of Saint John Paul, the building now serves as the educational facility for Senior High School students.
That the Deans’ Meeting was held at the San Fernando campus last 27 July 2016 was in perfect timing because University leaders from all OLFU campuses were able to partake in the inaugural rites, alongside the campus faculty and students.
To start off the commemoration, Fr. Lito Caliwag led a solemn Holy Mass at the campus’ covered court. In a symbolic start to the academic school year, University President, Dr. Caroline Marian S. Enriquez, and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Heracleo Lagrada jointly lit the paschal candle. Fr. Caliwag’s inspirational message focused on the Senior High School students in attendance; emphasizing the importance of gaining knowledge and skills and, most especially, the value formation and education of the youth.
Immediately after the mass, guests walked up to the St. John Paul building for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by the actual blessing led by Dr. Caroline Marian S. Enriquez, EVP and CFO Don August O. Santos, VP for Administrative Services Enrico John O. Santos, and OLFU Board of Trustee, Dr. Vicente O. Santos, Jr. With them, Fr. Caliwag walked from room-to-room to bless the whole facility, with the earnest wish that St. John Paul building be a “rich cultivating bed” for quality SHS students who will strive to reach for their aspirations in life.
Altogether, it was a very well-organized event through the able lead of Pampanga’s Campus Administrator Muriel Caballero and her staff.
Another new frontier opens up towards the bright future of OLFU and its students. May it be filled with a hunger for learning and personal growth. Cheers to the new St. John Paul building and the promise that lies therein.
