05 September 2016, Manila- The Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) honors the Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) as one of its Top Clients in the Private Sector. Awarded at the PICC Reception Hall at Roxas Boulevard, the recognition coincides with the 40th Anniversary of the country’s foremost hub for national and international events.
Billed as “40 Years and Forward”, the elegant celebration spotlighted OLFU as one of its biggest and most valued revenue contributors from 2011 to 2015. It will be remembered that Fatima has been patronizing PICC’s facilities since the 1970’s, leveraging the venue to stage many unforgettable graduation rites, as well as the ever-popular Mr.&Ms. OLFU Coronation Night.
PICC General Manager Atty. Renato B. Padilla, in his welcome remarks, waxed nostalgic as he recounted the good fortune of PICC having been visited by two recently-canonized saints: Mother Teresa of Calcutta who came to PICC in 1984, and St. John Paul who came to visit in 1995. Add to this the countless world leaders whom the PICC had graciously hosted, helping bring the beloved Philippines to the fore through the world-class facilities and uncompromising quality of service that is the PICC. Padilla said that their theme, “40 Years & Forward” is a pledge that PICC shall continue to grow in the years ahead.
BangkoSentralngPilipinas Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. addressed the guests in his concurrent role as the PICC Chairman of the Board. With pride, he stated that the PICC “made history as Asia’s first international convention centre”. He added that the iconic venue has been very much privileged to have been part of great moments; of sharing of ideas that helped shaped the country and the world, and of championing the Filipino culture. Noting the memorable graduations, the world-class performances, corporate events, international summits, and more, he said that PICC saw history happen and made history, in the process. Tetangco mentioned the latest “feather in the cap” in the most recent instalment of APEC where the country was brought to the fore through PICC’s excellent handling, executed in a uniquely Filipino way. Ending, Tetangco vowed that PICC will continue to weave its magic.
Awarding ceremonies ensued with PICC recognizing Top Clients in the Private and Government Sectors. Clients of 35 years or more of consistent partnering were also hailed.
Marketing Head Starr Dimayuga-Gelle accepted OLFU’s Top Client citation, on behalf of University President, Dr. Caroline Marian S. Enriquez. Also present during the event was the College of Medicine’s Elizabeth Castillo who has been an instrumental entity in coordinating OLFU’s graduation events with PICC, year after year. The history between her, OLFU and PICC was palpable in the way she was warmly welcomed by the PICC staff and officers--- just like a dear friend.
OLFU wishes PICC 40 more years of continued success. Cheers!
