Last August 8 and 9, 2016, different student organizations of the Our Lady of Fatima University --Pampanga took the task of staging the campus’ very first Organizational Recruitment Day. Headed by the Co-Curricular Coordinator, Mr. Jonel B. Santos, the objective of the event was to recruit new members from Senior High School (SHS) students. It was held at the OLFU Covered Court from 10am to 5pm. The students took the liberty to choose what club they will join based on their personal interest, talents and/or skills.
Despite the inclement weather, twelve student organizations participated. These were:
OLFU Pampanga organizations channelled their talent in the arts, the booths came up with visual elements such as artistic posters, 3D logos, banners, fruit carvings and beautiful table settings and such--- all intended to entice SHS and College students to sign-up. And to attract them even more, some organizations had their own respective “strategies”: for instance, METIS had free blood typing; COMSOC had a photo booth; CHIM had games and prizes, while COMSOC relied on the power of “word of mouth” as their tool for recruitment.
Each group had their own style in appealing to the students. They shared the features of their respective organizations, and discussed regarding the benefits of membership to a university recognized organization.
Yes, it’s a fact that students will be caught up with classes, homework, projects, family, church, social pursuits and other commitments. There’s a lot to balance. Yet, the University believes that student organizations are part and parcel in moulding students into well-rounded individuals--- into an “improved man”, ready to launch their careers.
