In compliance with the golden standard of research production and publication, RDIC held a seminar-forum on academic integrity and plagiarism last June 29, 2016 at the San Lorenzo Hall, Valenzuela Campus. Administrative heads, deans and department heads from various campuses of the Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) attended the event. Arnel G. Buencamino and Trisha Gotinga hosted the affair.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Heracleo D. Lagrada, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Graduate School, recognized the importance of originality checking. He also emphasized that plagiarism is a crime of stealing somebody else's idea, a form of intellectual theft.
RDIC Director Dr. Michael Joseph S. Diño discussed the importance of ethics in health research and scientific soundness. He elaborated typologies of research quality, the intrinsic and instrumental component of a good research. The keynote speaker, Mr. Jack Brazel, Development Manager for Asia and the Pacific Turnitin, emphasized how the anti-plagiarism software could help institutions and students in improving their research writing skills.
University President Dr. Caroline Marian S. Enriquez stressed the institution's commitment in embracing academic integrity. It was followed by the launching of OLFU's availment of the services provided by Turnitin to its institutional partners. Conclusively, the pledge of commitment to scientific soundness was made by the OLFU research community. The activity is a testament of the University's commitment to research excellence.
