Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) and Mokpo Maritime University (MMU) representatives celebrated in a reception party for the arrival of the ship "Senuribo" last 14 May 2018.
The Senuribo will serve as the training ship and home base for six OLFU students who will be undergoing on-the-job training this coming September until December. Here, they will reside for the duration of their overseas navigation training as they study concepts and put these into actual practice. They will also be visiting Japan and China during the said semester.
OLFU's representatives were Korean coordinator Taejong Lee, and College of Maritime Education coordinators Cesar Regacho and Francis Jay Dela Cruz. For MMU, the event was graced by University President Park, Sung-Hyeon.
In the Philippines, only OLFU holds the distinction as the only institution that is a recognized partner of, not only Korea’s MMU, but also of the Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU). Mokpo has training ships with one weighing 3600 tons, and the other, 4700 tons. Moreover, it has a large-scale, 8700-ton training ship which shall be docking in Manila in November 2018.
The exchange programs between OLFU and the said Korean maritime universities facilitate free tuition fees, accommodations and training for students. These learning programs are said to be a good springboard for employment after graduation.
Presently, OLFU is on the search for four students for its exchange program with KMOU in Korea.
