Nutrition & Dietetic’s Theta Zeta Chapter Rallies Nutrition Month
July 14,2016

Each year, July is designated as National Nutrition Month by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 491, which was signed into law in 1974. This year’s Nutrition Campaign is themed “1000 Days ni Baby, Pahalagahan Para sa Matatag na Kinabukasan”, and focuses attention on the importance of the good health of infants because this would be an indicator of their brighter future.

The Nutrition and Dietetics Department of the College of Hospitality and Institutional Management (CHIM) of the Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) joined the 2016 Nutrition Month festivities through a medley of activities targeting students and faculty at the Valenzuela Campus last 11 July 2016.

Beginning the day-long special event was an informative segment courtesy of Dra. Rozaida Ann Maglaya, a Senior Resident of the Pediatrics Department of the Fatima University Medical Center. In her talk, she stressed that the first two years of an infant are the most important years of their human development.

Then, students and faculty danced-off excess calories with help from an expert instructor from Aero Zumba. Meanwhile, food exhibitors generated much foot traffic from customers and kibitzers, alike. Finally, the affair was capped-off by a culinary demonstration care of celebrity Chef Janjie Ocoma or more popularly known as the “LakwatserongKusinero”, who regaled the audience with a learning-filled segment spiced up with a robust sense of humor. The cooking demo was courtesy of Siyana sweetener, a diabetic friendly sweetener. Big thanks from OLFU!
