Another school year means another round of “getting-to-know”. Such is true for the expatriate students of the Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) who participated in the school’s Annual Acquaintance Party of International Students last 17 September 2016 at the AMS Auditorium at OLFU’s Valenzuela Campus.
Spearheaded by the Center for Guidance Services (CGS) through its Valenzuela Campus Head, Dr. Ana Liza P. Ocampo, the special affair brought together some 400 foreign students who originate from different countries, as follows: United States, India, China, Taiwan, Korea, Canada, Thailand, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Indonesia, Myanmar, Africa, Somalia, Nigeria and Nepal. With the focus trained on giving participants an effective orientation of both the Filipino culture and the OLFU culture through presentations, students also gamely joined the games and group dynamic activities which were in support of the event objective.
While the University Registrar, Dr. Ferdinand F. Santos, inspired the students with his segment, he also challenged the participants to do well in their academics. On the other hand, Rafael Vicente S. Enriquez, the College of Medicine Registrar and the Assistant Administrator of the Basic Education Department, closed the event, remarking about the growing number of foreign students who have been choosing OLFU to be their “home”, academically speaking, as they seek their educational pursuits.
Attendees expressed sincere appreciation for the initiative in organizing the affair, including the Filipino foods that were served to them.
