Faculty members and students of the College of Hospitality and Institutional Management (CHIM) of Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU)-Quezon City Campus joined in the 5-Day/4-Night International Study Tour in Malaysia and Singapore last March 26 to 30, 2015.æ The group explored the various attractions of these two ASEAN countries particularly its recreational heritage and cultural wealth. The international study tour is a collaborative program of CHIM under the Transnational Collaborative Education between OLFU headed by Dr. Ignacio Cordova Jr., Dean of CHIM and Open University Malaysia (OUM) headed by Mr. Repin Ibrahim through their partner, Centre for Logistics Management Studies (CLMS) headed by Durairaj Govindasamy. The said program is part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by OLFU and OUM last January, 2015. The educational tour program aims to provide students an enriching outside classroom learning experience as part of the Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) and fostering cross-cultural understanding among people and between countries, as members of ASEAN. The unique and exclusive international study tour package includes airfare, accommodation, sightseeing tours (Malaysia & Singapore), transfer and seminar. This initiative is a positive beginning in fostering collaboration in transnational education between the two universities. As emphasized by Dr. Cordova during the seminar, OLFU is dedicated to provide the students a top of the line learning experience that will help them rise to the top!
