CGS Hosts Festivities and Opens Up Job Opportunities at the Job Fairs
February 24,2017

The Center for Guidance Services of Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU- CGS) celebrated its annual “Guidance Awareness Week” last February 14-17, 2017 at all OLFU campuses. Students excitedly flocked to the fun and festive activities such as the Jail Booth, Marriage Booth, Kiss Booth and Personality Testing Booth. Hand-painting contests were also held simultaneously at all campuses. Pre-Employment Seminars, themed “Building Successful Careers”, were conducted  for all graduating students. Expert speakers from graciously served as resource persons,  and focused on technical skills in job hunting which aim to prepare future graduates to thrive successfully as workers in the real world.

Highlighting the long-week celebration was the simultaneous holding of the Annual Job Fair at all campuses on February 17th. A total of 142 companies joined the said event like  SM Supermalls, Asia United Bank, Bureau of Internal Revenue, China Banking Corporation, Glaxo-Smith Kline Philippines, Hi-Precision Diagnostics, Interlink Group of Companies, Land Bank of the Philippines, Magsaysay Maritime Corporation, Mercury Drug, St. Luke’s Medical Center and Asia Travel, to name a few.  Our Lady of Fatima University and the Fatima University Medical Center, through its Human Resources Department, were also there to accommodate job-seekers. Over 1,500 graduating students eagerly applied for work, and were also interviewed by the representatives of the various company-participants. OLFU alumni were also encouraged to take advantage of the job fairs.

Based from the report given by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), a non-fee charging multi-employment service government facility, OLFU Valenzula produced an impressive number of 1,366 graduating students who were tagged as “FFI” or “For Further Interview”. Such signifies a higher rate of employability post-graduation. The report was based from feedback found in documented reports turned-in by the companies that participated in the event. Truly, this annual event opens up more possibilities and opportunities for graduating students and alumni. The University is optimistic that a brighter future awaits Fatimanians in whatever career choices they make.
