AAHRMEI elects Dr. Cordova and Prof. Parel as officers

The College of Hospitality and Institutional Management (CHIM) has announced the re-election of Dr. Ignacio C. Cordova, Jr., Dean of CHIM, as the National President of Association of Administrators in Hospitality, Hotel and Restaurant Management Educational Institutions (AAHRMEI).  Prof. Jomar T. Parel, SWEP Coordinator for International and HotelSector, was also elected as the Public Relations Officer (P.R.O.) of this organization. The election for its Board Members was held during the 15th Annual National Convention of AAHRMEI last December 7 and 8, 2015 at the Century Park Hotel in Manila.

 

AAHRMEI is a premiere national organization serving as a vehicle for all schools offering BSHRM, Tourism and other related hospitality programs.  With almost 170 participants during the convention, Dr. Cordova won the appointment as National President from the elected AAHRMEI Board of Directors. 

 

The 15th National Annual Convention, with its theme, “BENCHMARKING WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS: An Approach to ASEAN Integration” gave the academicians and industry-practitioners valuable sharing, insights and resources from the keynote speech of Mr. Howell V. Mabalot, President and Chief Trainer of HVM Training and TV Host of Business Talk and Global News Network.

 

The 1st day of the convention discussed topics like “Labor Mobility: Free Movement of People, Work Rights and Policies among Asian Countries” by Mrs. Aurea “Rory” Alzola Sugay, CEO and Managing Director of Winfield Institute; “Effects of ASEAN Integration to Hospitality Academe and Industry,” delivered by Mr. Mr. Daljeet Monga, Group CEO of Sheffield College, Austrlia and Sheffield Academy in Malaysia; “Economic and Security Integration in the Hospitality Industry,” Mr. Victor F. Alcuaz, President, Narra Hospitality Inc. and Trainer/Consultant of Hospitality Head Tunter  shared his valuable insights. Fellowship Night followed at the Century Park Hotel Pavilion

 

The 2nd day of the convention have two invited guests speakers, namely, Dr. Gloria Baken Wong-Siy, Founder, AAHRMEI shared ideas about the topic, “Updates, Current Issues and Concerns affecting Hospitality Academe;” and Dr. Ignacio C. Cordova, Jr., AAHRMEI President contribute his expertise with a topic, “Regional Integration Prospective: Multi-Cultural Diversity in Tourism/Hospitality Education.”

 

Definitely, the 15th National Annual Convention of AAHRMEI gave remarkable experience to OLFU, not only to the CHIM Teachers who attended the convention but further proud to the re-elected President, Dr. Ignacio C. Cordova, Jr. and elected P.R.O., Professor Jomar T. Parel!

 

Other CHIM officials who attended the convention were Ms. Mary Ann A. Donato, CHIM Assistant Dean, Mr. Jomar Parel and Mr. Raffy Dizon, from CHIM Quezon City Campus.
