College of Medical Laboratory Science
The Beginnings
Since its establishment in year 2000, the College of Medical Laboratory Science (CMLS) has been anchored on the very same trademark of excellence in education and holistic formation as espoused by Our Lady of Fatima University. This seamless relationship between the two entities has propelled the College, the Program and the University to the forefront of the academic arena; earning both national and international renown through the passage of time.
Outstanding leadership and an excellent assemblage of teaching staff fuel the exponential growth of CMLS. What began as a single-campus presence progressively has grown into a presence in all of Fatima’s campuses. Today, the College of Medical Laboratory Science is one of the programs with the highest student count at Fatima.
Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (MedTech)
The curriculum of CMLS leads to the degree, Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Science. This is synonymous to a degree in Medical Technology. Combining the formula of intensive theoretical foundation, robust internship programs, and a strong groundwork in research, the program’s enhanced curriculum prepares its graduates to become globally competitive and highly employable laboratory scientists rendering professional services in both hospital-based and free-standing clinical laboratories here and abroad.
In realizing its thrust towards progressive learning, the College also puts great value in research work. Through collaboration with the University’s Research Development and Innovation Center (RDIC), relevant researches are undertaken. These studies are in synch with the national and international research agenda which is crucial in ensuring that resources for research are utilized optimally. Consequently, outcomes from research take OLFU stakeholders to a higher plane of understanding, and create a more meaningful learning experience for the students.
Further, the commitment of the College of Medical Laboratory Science in the University’s community outreach program is palpable in the way the College initiates and sustains community development programs which address actual needs. With the goal of finding solutions that are replicable, sustainable, effective and empowering, the College helps communities build up their self-reliance in the quest for growth and progress.
As it carries out fruitful endeavors, the College draws support from its many affiliations in academe and industry, as well as a host of CHED-accredited laboratory training centers. Its dynamic internship training programs coupled with excellent training centers reinforce defined learning outcomes rooted in exposure to actual health care settings. All told, these solidify the holistic development of globally competitive graduates.
With its mandate to deliver an outstanding hallmark in education, the College of Medical Laboratory Science, together with its well-rounded and highly competent graduates and scholars, are part and parcel in uplifting the profession of medical technology. In sum, the quality instruction, the rich research culture and compassionate community development interplay in nurturing graduates who are not only learned but also values-centric; ensuring that they thrive and succeed in an ever-changing global landscape.
