On 10 February 2020, Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) Pampanga Campus’ College of Nursing formally established a partnership with the City Government of San Fernando for OLFU’s Community Health Nursing course. This undertaking allows the campus’ Bachelor of Science in Nursing students to immerse in the City’s Rural Health Units, exposing them to various health promotion and disease prevention programs.

The tie-up was officially sealed through a Memorandum of Agreement signed at the San Fernando City Hall, Pampanga. The ceremony was graced by the City Mayor, Hon. Edwin D. Santiago, City Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin and OLFU President, Dr. Caroline Marian S. Enriquez.

Also present were City Councilor Benedict Jasper Simon Lagman and OLFU Pampanga Campus officials, namely: Campus Administrator, Dean Muriel E. Caballero; Nursing Program Head, Arnel G. Buencamino; Admissions Officer, Shamlan P. Sampang and clinical instructors from the College of Nursing.

Commending OLFU during his speech, Mayor Santiago said: “Pasalamat ya pung maragul ing kekatamung ciudad king Our Lady of Fatima University na ngeni pu ing mangunang institusyun at manibat king una partner taya pu at ing pekamaragul a Unibersidad king City of San Fernando.” (Our city is very grateful to Our Lady of Fatima University which is now the leading institution [in the city]. It has been our partner since it began and is now the largest University in the City of San Fernando.)

Mayor Santiago also reiterated that the partnership with OLFU will be geared towards the promotion of good health in the City of San Fernando. He likewise sees this partnership as timely because of the City’s great need for nurses.

Before the partnership came to fruition, the comprehensive exposure program of BS Nursing was first presented to the council of the City and to the City Health Officer, Dr. Eloisa S. Aquino. A resolution was then made by Pampanga Governor Dennis G. Pineda, which paved the way for the agreement between OLFU and the City of San Fernando Government.
