CHIM-Quezon City Students Attend 5th Annual HRM Convention

The Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management Class 2015 successfully organized the 5th Annual Student’s Convention with this year’s theme “Breaking Barriers towards Endless Opportunities” held at the Summit Hall of the Philippines International Convention Center last March 29, 2015. Over 300 HRM students from the 10 ASEAN countries participated in the whole day convention.

 

In his opening remarks, Dr. Ignacio Cordova,Jr., Dean of the College of Hospitality and Institutional Management (CHIM)highlighted that the ASEAN integration is a perfect podium to showcase the readiness of HRM students to conquer the global hospitality industry and be the forefront of the march towards reclaiming the rightful place in the global community.

This 5th annual HRM student convention featured different resource speakers who shared their knowledge aboutASEAN integration.  They were:

 

  • Ms.Ma. Christina G. Aquino, Past President of the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines (COHREP) and Accreditor/Member of the CHED-NCR Regional Quality Assurance Team presented the re-tooling of HRM Students towards endless opportunities for the ASEAN integration.

 

  • Mr. Louise Paolo Abellanosa, Travel and Hospitality Trade Journalist and Associate Editor for Bucket List Publishing Corporation talked about ASEAN Integration and the Filipino Talent.
  • Mr. Lloyd A.Luna, popularly known in social media as #PambansangInspirasyongavehis funny but inspirational tips on breaking barriersas HRM students for the ASEAN integration.

Anotherhighlights of the convention were a photo exhibit and the pre-launch of the Taste of Winners, a book that features the winning recipes of CHIM from the different competitions.

The final activity of the convention was a fellowship night held at Marco Polo Hotel in Ortigaswith the theme “One Night, One Culture, One Civilization, One Camaraderie”.  The activity showcasedvarious presentations like festival dance competition, KalokaLike and Mr. and Ms. ASEAN.

 

This convention was made possible through the effort of the 2015 Student Convention Committee headed by its Chairman,Mr.ElgieBryan Goyonan together with the following Committee Heads: Delegations, Ms. Eunice Ebreo; Secretariat, Ms.AvegaileBaraquel; Finance, Ms. Shane Lorenzo; Program, Ms.RachelieUbias;Marketing, Ms. Bianca RicciAngeleen Angeles; and Exhibit; Ms.JulielArtazo.
