Six participants from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) of the Our Lady of Fatima University- Quezon City Campus (OLFU QC) brought distinction to the school when their research entry won the Cherry Ringor Best Student Scientific Paper Presentation Award.  The winning researchers were B.S. Biology students, namely, Edmar John Caporal, Cris Lloyd Cawaling, Ariana Micaela De Guzman, Robert Timothy Reyes, and Lester John Tambalo. The team was advised by OLFU faculty member Zandra Salut from the Natural Science Department.

It was during the 10th Annual International Conference on Environmental Science held last May 26-27, 2022 that the OLFU students presented their winning scientific paper, “An Investigation on the Microplastic Contamination of Oreochromis niloticus Present in Laguna de Bay”.

The learning event was organized by the Philippine Environmental Science Association (PESA) and espoused the theme, “Lambo Kalibungan: Anchoring Ecosystem Restoration to the Local Ecological, Cultural, and Socio-Economic Environments”.
