The President of Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU), Dr. Caroline Marian S. Enriquez, was unveiled as an Awardee by the Bett Asia Awards 2022 in the evening of 11 October 2022 at The Athenee Hotel in Bangkok. Held during Bett Asia’s Leadership Summit, Dr. Enriquez emerged as the recipient of the Trailblazer in Inclusion Award.

According to Bett’s guidelines, the Trailblazer in Inclusion Award raises up the individual who has done outstanding work in education technology and inclusion “to ensure equitable learning outcomes for all students and staff.” With Dr. Enriquez declared as the Awardee, it is deemed an honor to be part of an esteemed selection of other Finalists, namely: Dr. Nanthaporn Prae Seributra, CEO, Starfish Education; James Abela, Head of Computing, Garden International School, Thai MOOC, Thailand Cyber University, Ministry of Higher Education Science Research and Innovation of Thailand, and The Dariu Foundation.

Also noteworthy was that OLFU had earlier been named as a Finalist for The Wellbeing Award, another category in the Bett Asia Awards 2022. The said recognition is about an individual, group, or institution that has made great strides in furthering collaboration in education technology, “to support and advance the development of student and teacher mental wellbeing and/or physical health.”

Bett is a global organization whose mission is to “spark ideas, create connections and accelerate trade, driving impact and improving outcomes for teachers and learners.”  This year’s event is a partnership between the SEMEO RIHED (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development) and the Hyve Group. It was through the CHED International Affairs Staff that the SEMEO RIHED had put forth the invitation to OLFU to participate in the awards competition. Member countries of SEMEO RIHED include Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam.
