The Journal Incentive Program of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), in July 2017, officially recognized the Philippine Journal of Medicine (PJM) as one of eight recipients of its Journal Incubation Grant. The PJM is a research publication of Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU).
With the grant covering the period of 2017 to 2019, the said incubation program of CHED primarily seeks to help institutional journals in the Philippines to further align their journal publication process to international standards. Thus, recognized journals under the Journal Incubation Program must provide proof of application and acceptance to Scopus and Web of Science (WoS), international abstract and citation databases; develop a journal webpage for online access; implement a short submission-to-publication time; increase article citation; supply proof of journal influence and publication engagement; and attract foreign editors, referees, and authors. All of these now become more achievable to PJM because of the CHED incentives that it will be enjoying; incentives stipulated in CMO No. 53, s. 2016.
