The Learning Resource Center (LRC) of the Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) recently spearheaded the LRC Committee General Assembly 2017, its annual collaborative event with the OLFU academic community. Members of the Administration, College Deans, program heads, faculty, librarians and staff of the University’s five campuses graced the said event last May 29, 2017 at the LRC I-A (Main Library), Valenzuela Campus with the theme “Collaboration for Optimum Outcomes”.
The event which was attended by 200 participants kicked-off with encouraging remarks from Dean Ernesto Leuterio of the College of Arts and Sciences. Reassuring that the LRC is focusing on their improvements, he specifically highlighted the importance of the action plans from the past year’s General Assembly. After, this year’s Keynote Speaker, Dr. Heracleo D. Lagrada, Vice President for Academic Affairs provided the captive audience a highly motivating and informative talk focused on the importance of the LRC as the University’s repository and trusted source of information in today’s information age.
During the morning, librarians presented their annual reports from the past Academic Year 2016-2017, and gave updates on the LRC Committee 2016 Action Plan. They also provided information on topics such as Collection Development, Library Acquisitions Concerns, and LRC Practices. In the afternoon session, the Campus Administrators presented their respective LRC Development Plans per campus.
The overarching goal of the whole-day program was to align the LRC services with the prevailing needs of the academic community, and to achieve its aim of providing the right information to the right people at the time needed, and in the right format. Through collaboration and partnerships, and by listening to the feedback and plans of the different stakeholders, the LRC puts itself in the right direction to achieve its objectives.
