More than a change of name, OLFU's College of Hospitality & Institutional Management (CHIM) is an outcome of the College's development of its educational programs and services. A gamut of programs have been enhanced and added for students to experience a more natural seamless transition from classroom to work, from academe to industry.
The increasing number of linkages and affiliates of CHIM present students with varied practicum and exposure to the different fields of hospitality, tourism and entrepreneurship. New linkages include the Bistro Group of Restaurant Concepts, Gloria Jeans, Crown Regency Hotels and Costa Cruises. In partnership with First Place Inc., CHIM students have their practicum in different hotels in the United States such as The Busch Garden (adventure theme park in Virginia and Florida( and The Ritz Carlton Hotels. Costa Cruises include luxury cruise ships Costa Allegra and Costa Classica: Costa Allegra sails to different ports in Asia and the Mediterranean; Costa Classica sails to different ports in Asia. Crown Regency Hotels makes available to CHIM students, their nine hotels and suites in Makati, Cebu, Davao and Boracay.
All these linkages complement CHIM's Local and International Practicum Program as students are entrusted with responsibilities, intensively trained in different disciplines and are immersed in multi-cultural settings. For the past years, OLFU has sent more than 100 students of hotel & restaurant management to Singapore and the USA. With the new partners, more CHIM students are provided the environment to learn, work and broaden their perspective and opportunities.
Our Lady of Fatima University was granted Autonomous Status last March 2009 by the Commission on Higher Education. Still, the University constantly seeks higher levels of accreditation like with the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) and other accrediting bodies for its different Colleges and Programs. Accreditation is voluntarily sought and requested by OLFU and its Colleges and entails meeting strict and high quality standards set by the accrediting body in instruction, research and community involvement. It also demands maintaining the high quality standard through its facilities and services.
