Agalayaw Dance Company dominates NAASCU Hip Hop Dance Battle

Our Lady of Fatima University's (OLFU) Agalayaw Dance Company (ADC) snared the championship title in the recent Hip Hop Dance Competition held at Rizal Memorial Coliseum last December 5, 2009.

Six member-schools battled for the title with their slickest moves - the AMA Computer University Titans, University of Makati Hardy Herons, Centro Escolar University Scorpions, San Sebastian College Recoletos Cavite Baycats, University of Manila Hawks, and Our Lady of Fatima University Phoenix.

All participants were given a chance to showcase their utmost performance as they were set to have a maximum duration of four minutes and five seconds to show their hip hop dance grace they have prepared for the competition.

The mob's yell echoed throughout the arena as they cheered for their respective representatives as each troupe danced to the beat with their moves.

Headed by their coach Mr. Joel Baldago, the Agalayaw Dance Company was hailed as the overall champion in the said rivalry with an average score of 76.5 while the AMACU Titans and CEU Scorpions bagged the 2nd and 3rd place, with the score of 71.5 and 67.5 respectively.

The ADC "rider's attire" made them distinctive and unique to other groups. "We didn't expect this precious moment. I felt so nervous before the battle began, so much more when I saw the performance of the other groups. But then, my team and I just prayed and left everything to God's will and we are so thankful that He never left us during our presentation," Jherolyn Remodaro, president of the Agalayaw Dance Company said. "We thank everybody for the support they had given to us and also I personally want to thank our coach Mr. Joel for being so patient with us most especially during our practice. We offer this award to everyone and to our university, OLFU, which serves as an instrument for us to pursue our dreams to become good dancers in the future," she added.

OLFU has proven that it is worthy of being one of the competing teams in NAASCU. The triumph received by the ADC is a big pride and an honor for the university and this will also serve as an inspiration to everyone and a stepping stone for OLFU Phoenix to continue its quest to rise to the top.
